Excessive sweating, otherwise known as hyperhidrosis, has an enormous impact on the daily life of those who suffer from the condition.
People living with hyperhidrosis continue to produce sweat even when their body does not need to. It can affect hands, feet, face, and underarms. The effects of excessive sweating can cause difficulty gripping certain objects and unsightly marks on clothing. In some cases, the skin can develop painful infections due to being so frequently moist. If left untreated, excessive sweating can continue in the sufferer for life.
Many people with hyperhidrosis are too embarrassed to seek treatment. For those who do seek advice from their GP, help is often given in the form of short-term solutions such as prescription antiperspirants or medication. Hyperhidrosis is a permanent condition that can impact a sufferer over many years; this sort of treatment can be inconvenient and difficult to maintain as part of a daily routine. In particular, oral medicines are not recommended for controlling hyperhidrosis on a long-term basis.
Here at Infinity Aesthetics, we can help patients control excessive sweating. Botulinum toxin, a wrinkle relaxer, is a powerful and innovative way to regulate the effects of hyperhidrosis.
When applied by a trained practitioner, it is a safe way to get sweating under control. It is the perfect mid-way treatment combining the long-term results of surgical procedures, but without the invasiveness involved, and unlike some other treatments, is recommended for use on all the areas most commonly affected with excessive sweating.
The neurotoxin injection works by intercepting the brain’s signals to the sweat glands, dramatically limiting the volume of sweat produced.
A weak form of the chemical will be injected into the affected areas 10-12 times during the procedure. Patients should feel minimal amounts of pain and notice results within 5 days of receiving the treatment. Treatment usually produces an 80% or so decrease in sweating. The procedure’s effects lasts between 2-8 months, after which they can be retreated.
Anti-wrinkle injections soften or eliminate the appearance of lines and wrinkles on various parts of the face, and prevent these worsening.
The eye (peri-orbital) area is one of the first parts of the face to show the signs of ageing, due to a loss of volume and wrinkles caused by facial movements.
Aging causes many changes in the appearance of the face including loss of volume, horizontal and vertical descent of the tissues, brow ptosis, hollowed temples, hollow cheeks and a loss of muscle tone resulting in a more ‘aged’ look.
Typically this is associated with aging but it is important to note that brow ptosis can also occur as result of sun exposure (where dermal damage occurs), dermatoheliosis (premature aging of dermis), dermabrasion or brow trauma.
In some cases it can even be inherited, where the brows are inflexible and cannot achieve a lifted appearance.
With ageing, recession of the bone in the jawline and sagging of the overlying soft tissues can lose the defined and strong jawline which is so important for framing the face and altering the shape (feminising or masculinising for example).
The position and shape of the cheekbones is essential for facial beauty. Dermal fillers for cheeks can restore well-defined and proportioned cheeks to improve the profile of the face increasing a youthful and attractive look without shadows or creases.
