Lips are a crucial part of facial beauty and attractiveness for both men and women and can be enhanced with lip filler in our Swansea aesthetic clinic with masterclass techniques for definition and natural volume, without producing an unnatural over-filled appearance.
At Infinity Aesthetics, we are proud of our natural-looking results for enhancement with dermal fillers for lips. We do everything possible to enable our clients to look youthful, attractive and radiant but never over-treated.
Owen uses high-quality lip dermal fillers such as Restylane Kisse, Teoxane RHA-2 and Juvederm Volbella to create full and balanced harmonious lips. He typically uses a microcannula, decreasing bruising and the risk of complications. Reproducing the look of natural lips is essential, maintaining the ratio between upper and lower lip and the cushions called tubercles (3 in the upper lip and 2 in the lower lip).
Measurement of the proportions of the face is essential to ensure that lip proportion is in keeping with the overall dimensions, and to subtly and gradually improve the overall appearance.
Many people are worried about looking over-done – Dr Owen goes to great lengths to ensure his clients having lip dermal filler are reassured that they will only have a subtle, enhanced look which can be carefully refined over time.
Some people may require increased definition to reproduce the “Cupid’s bow” at the top of the upper lip. Others may have lost volume as the lips become longer and thinner with age and require revolumisation to plump the lip cushions. Softer dermal fillers can be used to smooth out lipstick lines which form around the edge of the lips with ageing. Often Dr Owen performs lip enhancement over 2 sessions with an initial volumisation and subsequent refinement session.
Dermal fillers in the lips typically last up to around a year as the fillers tend to be softer and more malleable, giving a natural-looking appearance. Dr Thomas will discuss the specific type and what might be expected during your original appointment.
Without touch-up injections, your lips will slowly return to the original appearance and therefore, periodic refinement sessions can help you maintain a fresh look for many years to come.
Common injection-related side effects include swelling, bruising, pain, itching and tenderness at the injection site. Although these cannot be avoided entirely, Dr Thomas uses expert technique, high-quality products and blunt microcannulas to reduce these occurrences. There is a very rare risk of blood vessel blockage, but great care is taken to minimise this chance, and these fillers have an enzyme which can reverse the filler by breaking up the bonds between molecules quickly.
The application of lip fillers can result in some degree of discomfort as the lips are a feature that is delicate and sensitive in nature. Dr Thomas administers lip fillers with care and precision to minimise any pain or uncomfortable feelings. Dr Thomas often uses a numbing local anaesthetic cream before the procedure to make the experience as comfortable as possible.
Because we make a bespoke treatment plan with every patient, and every person will need different amounts, we charge per syringe but make sure that we are as economical as possible with optimal technique. It’s best not to overfill lips and the refinement session can add more if needed.
The amount will depend mainly on the age of the patient – younger patients with plump lips may require only 1 ml, but patients with narrower, less defined lips may need more. If definition is used, then this will be an additional 0.7 ml carefully around the lip border using a needle and anaesthetic cream.
Dr Thomas will discuss the individualised treatment plan with every patient; for information regarding the cost please see our price list.
As the lips are more sensitive than other parts of the face, the treatment effects can take a little longer to settle. Swelling and tenderness could take up to 24 hours to feel more comfortable. Although this should not inhibit your ability to undertake everyday tasks, it may cause some tenderness when eating and talking.
