Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid, and the gel-like substance is injected under the skin during treatment at our Sculptra London clinic. As a type of dermal filler, Sculptra can be used for a number of different aesthetic treatments, but is most effective when used to target fine lines and wrinkles on the face. The product used for Sculptra treatment is a biodegradable, biocompatible synthetic substance that naturally stimulates collagen production over time.
Sculptra treatment tackles signs of ageing in a different way to other aesthetic treatments. By strategically injecting Sculptra under the skin, the poly-L-lactic acid stimulates the production of the protein collagen. Collagen can be found in the skin, bones, cartilage and connective tissues, and provides the skin’s structure. Whereas most other dermal filler treatments aim to restore volume by filling in fine lines and wrinkles, Sculptra treatment is designed to target the underlying causes of facial ageing.
What’s more, Sculptra can be combined with a number of other treatments to deliver even better results. For example, dermal fillers and botulinum toxin injections can help to make the results of Sculptra treatment even more impactful, whilst still remaining a minimally-invasive procedure.
Due to the stimulated production of collagen in the skin, Sculptra treatment makes the face look naturally more full and skin appears firmer. The results of the treatment are long-lasting too; the firm skin following treatment can last up to two years. With minimal downtime and natural-looking results, Sculptra is one of the most effective and minimally-invasive aesthetic treatments available today. Recipients leave our clinic with tighter, firmer and younger-looking skin, giving them a significant boost in confidence.
Within a month of receiving Sculptra treatment, you should begin to notice that skin looks firmer and more full. The effect builds to maximum by 4 months after the session.
We recommend receiving two or three sessions of Sculptra to maximise the results. Before receiving treatment, a tailored plan will be designed during a detailed assessment to ensure that the desired results can be achieved. Each course of treatment is custom-made for each client, and takes into account your entire medical history.
Immediately after receiving Sculptra treatment at our London clinic, it is likely that there will be mild swelling and bruising at the site of injection. These side effects should pass in a couple of days but, to limit these effects, we recommend avoiding any strenuous activity for 48 hours after the treatment. Occasionally, small lumps form under the skin, but these generally subside by themselves.
Whereas other dermal fillers restore lost volume directly, Sculptra is used to target the underlying causes of the lost volume by stimulating collagen production. This naturally improves the skin’s structure and surface over time. Furthermore, standard dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occuring substance, to restore lost volume in the skin. Sculptra, on the other hand, uses poly-L-lactic acid – a synthetic substance – to stimulate collagen production.
Sculptra can be combined with other aesthetic treatments to provide a substantial and long-lasting impact on your appearance. For example, using dermal fillers alongside Sculptra produces dramatic results, with skin appearing rejuvenated significantly. Botulinum toxin injections can also contribute to a substantial boost in the effectiveness of Sculptra.
