Treatment
As we get older, our facial anatomy changes. Certain signs of age become more visible with time such as dark circles, wrinkles around the eyes, eye bags and hollow tear troughs. Receive tear trough filler at our London clinic to help reduce these signs of age and rejuvenate the skin under your eyes. Lost volume can be successfully restored and skin is made firmer using dermal fillers, giving you a boost in confidence.
To ensure your treatment is a success and to avoid the risk of complications, it is vital that you book a tear trough filler appointment with an experienced clinician. Dr Owen Thomas is a highly skilled and experienced professional with over 20 years experience as a medical professional. He has also successfully completed the prestigious Aesthetics Intelligence Fellowship, and has achieved a Master’s Degree in injectable aesthetic treatments.
A very fine needle or a blunt microcannula is used to administer the dermal filler to the tear trough and, as this area of skin is so sensitive, expert technique ensures that the risk of complications is reduced significantly. Tear trough fillers can be used to successfully target a number of different cosmetic issues using this method, including:
A combination of dehydration, lack of sleep, weight loss and the natural ageing process causes the skin under the eye to become hollow. Hollow skin contributes to an aged and tired-looking appearance.
Due to the reduced production of collagen and elastin in the skin as we get older, our skin loses some of its structure and elasticity. This causes the formation of wrinkles and fine lines all over our skin.
A number of lifestyle choices can influence dark circles under the eye. This includes poor sleep, alcohol intake, sun exposure and diet. Dark circles can also be genetic.
Fortunately, if you are afflicted with any of the above conditions, there is a solution: tear trough fillers. Using hyaluronic acid, volume that has been lost can be restored, making the skin firmer and more full. This will contribute to the overall look of reduced tiredness, rejuvenated and improved skin quality.
The cost of receiving tear trough filler will be entirely dependent on each individual. Before your treatment can begin, Dr Thomas will carry out a detailed assessment to curate a bespoke plan. The cost of treatment will then be priced depending on the amount of filler that will be used to complete the procedure. For more information, take a look at our price list.
The downtime following tear trough filler tends to vary for each patient. We would typically recommend that you avoid intense physical activity for 24-48 hours following treatment. This will help to minimise swelling and bruising. We also advise that you avoid applying makeup for 12 hours after your treatment, and avoid flying for 24-48 hours.
With expert technique, cooling, vibration and dermal fillers that are pre-mixed with local anaesthetic, any discomfort experienced during the treatment can be successfully minimised. While the area below the tear trough is delicate and sensitive, Dr Thomas uses a cannula to further reduce discomfort.
While the chance of major side effects or complications developing from tear trough filler treatment is very low, some of the more common side effects are generally limited to mild swelling and bruising at the site of injection. These symptoms normally pass within a few days, and any serious complications are limited significantly by the use of hyaluronic acid which can be broken down in the event of a blood vessel blockage.
We would typically expect tear trough fillers to last between 9-12 months, however, they can last longer for some individuals. We only use the best quality of filler such as Juvederm Volbella, Belotero balance and Teoxane RHA-2. This helps to ensure that the results of the treatment last as long as possible.
