Skin Condition
Dull skin often is the result of a buildup of dead skin cells (keratinocytes).
These migrate from the bottom of the epidermis to the top, flattening and becoming drier and with inadequate shedding can lead to a buildup, making the skin appear lifeless and dry.
Also, with age, lifestyle choices and exposure to the sun, the epidermis loses some of its natural hyaluronic acid (the natural hydrating substance). This can also result in a wrinkled appearance. There are a variety of different treatments that Dr Thomas could consider depending on the personal appearance and medical history.
Living helpfully with a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and hydrating enables a person to look and feel vibrant and young. With alcohol, smoking and unhealthy foods the body and skin can age at an accelerated rate. This can lead to a prematurely aged look, with dry skin becoming one of a variety of concerns.
Treatments that Infinity Aesthetics could use include:
Profhilo, Chemical peels and (coming soon) radiofrequency treatment.
Profhilo is a new type of hyaluronic acid substance with a mixture of high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid released just underneath the skin to provide hydration and a revitalised look with slight skin tightening.
Chemical peels penetrate the outer layers of the skin (the epidermis and dermis) to tackle issues such as pigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles to allow new healthy skin to grow, with a youthful more even and shiny appearance to the skin.
Radiofrequency uses heat energy that is delivered into the tissues, providing a tightening effect, and boosting collagen production.
In the aesthetic appointment, Dr Thomas will assess the skin condition around the face and propose a treatment plan while advising his patients on other treatments such as dermal fillers to treat underlying volume loss or wrinkle relaxing injections to help prevent or stabilise facial wrinkle formation.
