Face Condition
The muscles in the face that we use to express ourselves on a daily basis contribute to the development of fine lines and wrinkles over time. These are sometimes known as ‘frown lines’. With effective treatment, these signs of age can be reduced significantly.
Forehead lines, or ‘frown lines’, are a natural sign of ageing. It is likely that everyone will develop frown lines at some point in their life, however not everyone will choose to put up with them. Facial wrinkles especially can seriously affect people’s self esteem, and make them lose confidence in their look. Luckily, there is a solution: wrinkle-relaxing injections.
The loss of connective tissue support in the skin causes these lines to develop. As we age, the collagen and elastin in our skin decreases. This prevents the skin from bouncing back to its original shape, and instead is left in fixed folds and creases. Initially, the creases and folds in our face are dynamic, but due to the lost elasticity and volume, wrinkles and creases appear. With the right treatment, these wrinkles can be reduced to provide you with a rejuvenated look, boosting your self esteem and giving you confidence in your appearance.
Often referred to as ‘11 lines’, forehead lines are a sign of age, and often appear at a similar time as crow’s feet. Treatment for horizontal forehead lines and vertical lines around the nose bridge (the glabellar) involves the use of muscle-relaxing injections. A small injection is applied to block the release of nerve transmitters to the forehead, which allows the muscles to weaken gradually. This process should only be undertaken by an experienced professional such as Dr Owen Thomas.
At our London clinic, Dr Owen Thomas undertakes a full assessment before any form of treatment takes place. Each patient’s anatomy is taken into account, with consideration given to how each muscle in the forehead works. This allows a precise and effective treatment to be delivered, ensuring the best possible results are achieved.
Even after treatment, Dr Owen will be contactable seven days a week if you have any questions or concerns. Owen regularly sees patients two weeks after treatment to follow up on the results and assess your progress.
Soften and reduce the appearance of creases with anti-wrinkle injections.
A liquid facelift can completely transform a person’s appearance, reducing loose and sagging skin significantly.
Restore lost volume in the forehead and reduce the appearance of wrinkles with dermal fillers.
Frown lines tend to develop as horizontal lines across the forehead, and vertical lines above the nose bridge (glabellar). As we age, the skin in our face loses elasticity due to a decreased amount of elastin and collagen being produced. This means that as we express emotions on our faces, the skin becomes fixed in place. This causes the development of wrinkles and creases.
While side effects for muscle-relaxing injections can vary, there are commonly only very minor side effects reported following treatment. These symptoms are often described as mild swelling or bruising at the site of injection, but these symptoms tend to subside after a few days.
The results of muscle-relaxing injections can be noticed as soon as 3-4 days after treatment. The maximum effect is usually seen after around 10-14 days.
While results are not permanent, you can book in for top-up appointments to maintain the results for longer. However, it is not recommended to receive top-up injections more than every three months. Any more than this, and it is likely that the body will develop antibodies, and the injections will no longer be as effective at reducing wrinkles
