Face Treatment
Marionette lines, which appear as lines running from the corner of the mouth down towards the chin, are a common concern that arises with age. As we grow older, the loss of tissue in the chin area and the decrease in tension within the supporting ligaments of the mid and lower face contribute to the formation of these lines.
Dr. Owen Thomas offers dermal filler treatments at his practice to address marionette lines and rejuvenate the appearance of the face. He can effectively restore lost volume, smooth out the lines, and provide a more youthful and refreshed look by utilising high-quality dermal fillers.
During the treatment process, Dr. Owen carefully assesses the unique facial anatomy of each patient to determine the optimal approach for addressing marionette lines. By understanding the specific needs and goals of the individual, he creates a customised treatment plan to achieve natural-looking results.
Dermal fillers are strategically injected into the targeted areas along the marionette lines, helping to plump and lift the skin. This approach fills in the lines themselves and restores volume to the surrounding tissue, resulting in a more harmonious and balanced appearance.
Dr. Owen’s expertise lies in achieving subtle and natural outcomes, avoiding an overfilled or unnatural appearance. By utilising his advanced training and techniques, he can effectively minimise the appearance of marionette lines while maintaining the overall facial harmony.
Through the use of dermal fillers, Dr. Owen helps his patients regain their confidence and achieve a more youthful and revitalised look. By restoring volume and addressing the specific concerns associated with marionette lines, he can provide a personalised treatment that meets the unique needs of each individual.
If you are interested in addressing marionette lines and rejuvenating your facial appearance, Dr. Owen Thomas offers consultations at his practice. Dr. Owen Thomas takes a comprehensive approach to address marionette lines, understanding the underlying factors contributing to their formation. Instead of solely targeting individual lines, he focuses on restoring facial volume and providing structure using dermal fillers to eliminate and smooth these lines, ultimately rejuvenating the face and restoring a youthful and radiant appearance.
Dr. Owen employs a meticulous technique during the treatment process, combining different types of dermal fillers in layers. This approach allows him to gradually build the structure and ensure long-lasting results. To minimise discomfort and bruising, he utilises a flexible microcannula when administering the fillers.
The treatment of marionette lines is often performed in conjunction with other facial enhancements, such as cheek and chin augmentation. Additionally, depending on the appearance of the lips, lip augmentation using dermal fillers like Juvederm, Restylane, Teoxane, and Belotero may also be recommended to achieve a harmonious and balanced outcome.
Dr. Owen understands the synergy between different treatments and may suggest complementary procedures to enhance the results further. For instance, he may recommend Morpheus8, a skin tightening treatment, to address sagging skin around the chin, jawline, and lower face. In some cases, the use of botulinum toxin to relax the DAO muscle (depressor anguli oris), which pulls the corners of the mouth downwards, can achieve a more pleasant and less sad expression.
By combining his advanced knowledge, skilful technique, and a range of treatment options, Dr. Owen ensures that his patients receive comprehensive care for their marionette lines, resulting in a rejuvenated appearance and improved self-confidence.

Because we make a bespoke treatment plan with every patient, and every person will need different amounts, the cost is per syringe of filler required.
Typically around 1-2 ml are needed on each side; this depends on the extent of the volume loss. Dr Thomas will discuss the individualised treatment plan with every patient; please see our price list.
On average, we would expect dermal filler to last around 12 months or so typically, but this can vary significantly. We only use the best and most expensive products from world-renowned laboratories such as Juvederm Voluma, Restylane, Belotero and the Teoxane RHA family.
Recovery time varies for each patient and each type of filler injected. You can resume most activities right away, but it is generally recommended that you avoid intense physical activity for the first 24-48 hours to minimise swelling and bruising.
It is best to avoid touching the area or applying makeup for around 12 hours after treatment and avoid flying for 24-48 hours.
Although many clinics advise against drinking alcohol for 24 hours, there is no evidence this is beneficial and can be restrictive – we do however suggest moderate amounts are sensible.
The treatment is with a fine needle into the subcutaneous tissue and is not usually painful. Dr Owen takes great care to minimise discomfort further with cooling, vibration, meticulous technique and uses fillers pre-mixed with local anaesthetic (therefore minimising the discomfort from subsequent injections).
As with any medical treatment, there can be side effect although these are usually mild given that hyaluronic acid is a natural substance. Transient swelling is common, sometimes with occasional redness and bruising which settle after a couple of days. Dr Owen will discuss all possible side effects at the time of the assessment.
Serious complications are minimised with careful technique, expert knowledge of anatomy and frequently blunt-tipped microcannula. Fortunately, hyaluronic acid fillers also have a substance which can break up the dermal filler and reverse the effects of blood vessel blockages.

Face Conditions
Marionette lines are the vertical lines that extend from the corners of the mouth down towards the chin, and they are a common concern as we age. These lines can create a downturned appearance, often making you look older or more tired than you actually feel. The primary underlying cause of marionette lines is the loss of volume in the prejowl area, which is the region on either side of the chin. As we age, the natural fat pads that once supported this area diminish, leading to sagging skin and the formation of these deep lines.
At Infinity Aesthetics in London, we understand the importance of addressing the root cause of marionette lines—volume loss. That’s why we offer advanced non-surgical treatments, including the use of premium dermal fillers, to effectively replace the lost volume in the prejowl area. By doing so, we not only soften the appearance of marionette lines but also restore a more youthful and balanced facial contour.
