Have you heard of cryolipolysis – also known as fat freezing? Fat freezing in our Swansea clinic is a great way to get rid of stubborn areas of fat fat and give you a toned and attractive appearance using body contouring, and we are delighted to introduce the latest generation Coolshaping2 device, taking bookings from March.
All treatments are supervised by Dr Owen Thomas, Level 7 aesthetic physician, who undertakes a review of the medical history and ensures the optimal result.
The fat-freezing procedure is often a one-time thing, although you can get it done again after 2-3 months for a more dramatic effect. It takes only 35 minutes (the quickest there is due to the new technology) and isn’t painful, although it might feel cold at first.
The treatment was first introduced by Coolsculpting, but Owen is delighted to have available the latest generation Coolshaping2 machine which can treat 4 areas simultaneously, from smaller areas (double chin), up to large areas on the abdomen. You can see our webpage and FAQs here
The area you want to target is frozen and this causes the fat cells to be destroyed, then they are removed from the body through lymph drainage. It takes 8-12 weeks before the results become visible.
Our fat freezing machine is suitable for both larger areas and small single areas.
The treatment compliments fat-dissolving injections which area better for very small, localised pockets of fat that won’t fit into the fat freezing applicators.
Areas that can be treated with fat freezing include:
- • Chin/Neck/Double chin
- • Upper arms/bingo wings
- • Bra Fat
- • Flanks/sides/hips
- • Abdomen/tummy
- • Thighs (inner, outer)
- • Back Fat
- • Buttocks
Fat freezing is suitable for patients with stubborn, problematic areas of fat to help body contouring and shape. It is not an overall treatment for being overweight although many people find that the drop a clothing size because of the improved body shape. Overall about 25% of the fatty tissue is lost from the treated area, and this loss is permanent!
If you have got a holiday or special event on the horizon, it is best to schedule the starting session at least three months in advance; results are not typically visible for at least four weeks with the fat loss reaching its peak at around week eight. Any slight asymmetry in the skin tends to settle completely by week 12.
It is a non-invasive procedure and the risks (compared to liposuction which is the gold standard treatment for weight loss) are generally very low. They can be slight aching for a short time, numbness or bruising. The main complication only affects a very small number of people (less than 1%) called paroxysmal adipose hyperplasia where an area of tissue becomes enlarged rather than shrinks and if this were to happen then it can require liposuction.
Taking bookings from March 2023 – get in touch if you need any information!
